Narrative:
On Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 6:43 PM, the National Weather Service issued a Tsunami Advisory for the Ventura County coastline in response to the magnitude 8.3 Earthquake in Chile. Ventura County residents that reside near the coastline or within the tsunami inundation zone are not being requested to evacuate at this time.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a minimal increase in wave heights beginning Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The increased wave heights are not anticipated to pose a threat or cause damage to the coastline. However, due to the potential for changing conditions, Ventura County residents near the coast should use extra caution in and around beaches. Mariners in the Channel Islands Harbor and Ventura Harbor should tune to weather radio for the latest information on impacts for our area.
