Sheriff’s Office Presents “Scams & Shred” Event September 16, 2015
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with Senior Services to present information to the community on current scams happening here in McHenry County. The presentation will be Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Senior Services office in Johnsburg.
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. participants are encouraged to take part in the mobile shred event as well. Bring your old and unwanted documents to be securely shredded.
Scams that target our community are always changing. This quarterly educational series will provide information on seasonal scams and information on the current trends observed in the last three months. Tips will be given on what to watch out for, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you become a victim. After a short presentation, meet with detectives and deputies; speak with them in a round table setting; and get answers to your questions and concerns.
This presentation is designed for all McHenry County residents. Those who are caregivers to a senior or are seniors themselves are especially encouraged to participate because often seniors are the targeted victims.
More information on the Quarterly Scam Safety Presentation can be obtained through the Community Relations Division at (815)338-2144.
