Green Bay Police respond to a suspicious situation in the 1000 block of Klaus St.

On September 13, 2015, at 7:37 AM, Green Bay Officers responded to a welfare check in the 1000 block of Klaus St. While enroute to the scene officers were advised that a 54 year old male occupant was reporting that he had just killed all of his dogs and set fire to his house. The subject’s home was a multi-family residence, subdivided into an upper and lower apartment. The male subject lived in the upper apt., the lower unit was vacant at the time of the fire. Upon our officer’s arrival, the male subject was found exiting the home and was immediately taken into custody w/o further incident. Green Bay Fire and EMS crews were called to the scene to extinguish the fire. The male subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the fire.
Shortly after entering the home, emergency crews found what appeared to be approximately 8 deceased dogs inside the apartment. At this time, the official cause of the animal’s death does remain under investigation. Green Bay Animal Control was on scene and will be investigating this incident in conjunction with a team of Green Bay Arson Investigators. The male subject is currently in police custody and cooperating with the investigation. Other than the male suspect, there were no other human injuries as a result of this incident.
