Intoxicated subject taunts deputies in a plan to be shot by them. Subject is arrested and taken to HDDC

SUSPECT: Cody Ballard, 19, Barstow
SUMMARY:
On Friday, September 11, 2015, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Deputy C. Korkotsakis located a black male adult, later identified as Cody Ballard, sitting in the middle of Barstow Rd. Ballard appeared disoriented and began running in the middle of the roadway. Deputy Korkotsakis ordered Ballard out of the roadway however Ballard continued to walk southbound in the middle of traffic. Ballard placed his hand in his waistband telling the deputy he had a gun and wanted to be shot. Ballard eventually displayed both his hands however continued to taunt Korkotsakis to shoot him. Prior to Korkotsakis' arrival Ballard told a witness when law enforcement arrived he was going to attempt to get the Deputy to shoot him.
Ballard was taken into custody and was transported to the High Desert Detention Center for public intoxication, and a psychological evaluation.
