FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Angels Camp Police Department and the Sonora Police Department conducted a joint Sobriety/Driver License checkpoint on Saturday, September 5, 2015. The checkpoint was in the 100 block of S. Main Street in the City of Angels Camp, between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 2:00 a.m..

Four hundred thirty five (435) vehicles were screened during this time. Two citations were issued for driving without a valid license. No DUI arrests were made at the checkpoint.

Funding for the sobriety checkpoint is provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The public is encouraged to call the Angels Camp Police Department at (209) 736-2567, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office dispatch center at (209) 754-6500, or 911 if they observe impaired drivers on the roadways.

The Angels Camp Police Department and the Sonora Police Department will be conducting a joint Sobriety/Driver License checkpoint tonight, Saturday, September 5, 2015. The checkpoint will be in the 100 block of South Main Street, in the city of Angels Camp between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

The checkpoint will focus on removing impaired drivers, as well as unlicensed drivers from the roadways. Educational materials covering the dangers of driving under the influence will also be handed out to motorists. Funding for the sobriety checkpoint is provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
