Bomb Threat Received for Centennial High School

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 at approximately 12:45 a.m. the Corona Police Department dispatch received a phone call regarding a bomb threat at Centennial High School. The male caller stated that he had two bombs in backpacks planted in the school and that he was going to detonate them in the morning.

School officials were alerted and officers arrived on scene to conduct a room to room search. Corona PD’s bomb detecting K9 was called to the scene to assist with the search. Officers located two suspicious backpacks on campus. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene and determined both backpacks were safe.

In response to the incident, the Corona Norco Unified School District personnel cancelled school for the day at Centennial High School as a precaution for the safety of the students and staff.

The Corona Police Department has cleared the incident and the campus has been rendered safe, however the investigation is on-going. If you have any information regarding this case please contact School Resource Officer Michael Placencia by calling 951-739-5670 or by emailing [email protected].
