Former Ripon Police Chief Elden “Red” Nutt said on multiple occasions, “The old jail house is built like a rock.” Come visit Ripon’s historic renovated jail house.
The old Ripon jail house was built in 1925 and was initially used by Constable John Garrison. The old jail house is located on the corner of Locust Ave/1st Street on the former City Hall grounds.
The old jail house will be open this Saturday, September 5th and on the first Saturday of each month, from 10am until noon. The Ripon Veterans Memorial, the Ripon Police Officers Memorial, and the Ripon Veterans Museum are all located next to the old jail house. Come enjoy some Ripon history. You might just learn something.
