INCIDENT: Penal Code 646.9 – Stalking

LOCATION: 53299 Alta Dena Drive, Morongo Valley, CA

SUSPECT(S): Gregory Lonsdale, 60 years old, Morongo Valley, CA.

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On July 31, 2015, Lonsdale pointed a firearm at his neighbor and made several threats. Lonsdale was contacted by deputies and he was taken into custody for a psychological evaluation. A case was sent to the District Attorney’s office and charges were filed with the court for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Lonsdale plead guilty in court and he was placed on felony probation. On August 20, 2015, the suspect was ordered to stay away from the victim and a restraining order was issued.

Monday August 31, 2015, Morongo Basin deputies responded to the location to investigate a violation of a restraining order. At approximately 5:20 am the victim found Lonsdale looking into his residence through a window and evidence was located at the scene. At approximately 6:35 am deputies attempted to contact Lonsdale at his residence. Lonsdale was observed inside his residence but refused to speak with deputies.

At 8:40 am a warrant was obtained for Lonsdale’s arrest and several deputies responded to the scene to take Lonsdale into custody. Deputies negotiated with Lonsdale for over two hours in an attempt to gain his compliance but Lonsdale refused to speak with deputies at the scene. Deputies forced entry into the residence and took Lonsdale into custody without incident.

Lonsdale was placed under arrest booked into the West Valley Detention Center for violation of Penal Code 646.9 Stalking and a violation of probation. Lonsdale is being held without bail.
