August 24th

Petty Theft- 6500 block of Central Ave.
An officer reports the theft of a burgundy 3 wheel bicycle made by Schwinn. The theft occurred between 8/23@ 2030 and8/24@ 0700 hours.

Auto Burglary- Peet’s Coffee (9895 San Pablo Ave.)
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect(s) smashed out the left rear door window of a vehicle in the Peets lot and stole an Apple I Mac laptop. The theft occurred between 0915 and 0930 hours.

Warrant Arrest- 800 block of Elm St.
Officers responded to the residence in regards to a disturbance. During the investigation, officers arrested a 33 year old male from Oakland on 2 outstanding warrants. He was booked and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Vandalism -11500 block of San Pablo Ave.
An officer reports an unknown suspect(s) smashed out the driver’s side rear door of the victim’s vehicle. The vandalism occurred between 1400 and 1410 hours. A witness described the suspect as being a BMA and last seen leaving the area in an older brown Audi.

Warrant Arrest- 9950 San Pablo Ave.
Officers responded to Chase Bank for an unwanted subject and located the 50 year old female near the ATM’s. An officer conducted a warrants check and discovered the female had an outstanding warrant from Santa Cruz County. After booking, the female was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Theft – 5300 block of Potrero Avenue:
At 1700 hours, a Community Service Officer responded to the report of a stolen blue 1997 Honda Accord. The vehicle was stolen by an unidentified suspect in between 1130 and 1430 hours.

August 25th

Auto Burglary- 900 block of Pomona Ave.
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect(s) smashed out right the front window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The burglary occurred between 0830 hours and 0845 hours.

Petty Theft (Shoplifting) 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens)
An officer reports an unknown suspect entered the business and exited the store with merchandise without paying. The suspect was described as being a black male adult, approximately 50 years old. Officers are working on leads to identify the suspect.

Traffic Collision – Mental Health Evaluation: 11100 blk of San Pablo Avenue:
At 2204 hours, an officer responded to a three car collision. A northbound vehicle collided with two parked cars in front of St. Johns. The driver of the vehicle made statements indicating she was in a mental health crisis. The driver was committed for a mental health evaluation.

Domestic Violence Restraining Order Violation – 11700 block San Pablo Avenue:
At 2248 hours, Officers responded to the report of two 911 calls reporting domestic violence. Officers determined that the male subject who fled on foot prior to their arrival. He was located nearby. He was found to be in violation of a domestic violence restraining order. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Residential Burglary- 2500 block of Arlington Blvd.
Officers were dispatched to an audible alarm at the residence. Upon arrival they discovered the front door had been forced open. Unknown suspect(s) used a crow bar to force open the front door and conducted a major ransack and stole costume property. The theft occurred in between 1300 hours and 1430 hours.

Warrant Arrest-San Pablo Ave.@ Eastshore Blvd.
The Chief of Police conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle that committed a vehicle violation and arrested the driver for an outstanding warrant. The 26 year old male was taken into custody without incident. After booking, the male was cited and released.

August 26th

Driving under the influence of an Alcoholic Beverage - S. 52nd/ Gordon Ave.
At 2045 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver, a 34 year old Richmond man was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and driving on a suspended license. He was booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

Driving under the influence of an Alcoholic Beverage I-80 / Potrero Avenue:
At 2045 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver, a 28 year old El Sobrante man was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.

August 27th

Stolen Vehicle – 5300 block of Cypress Avenue:
At 0815 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen 1998 Honda Civic. The theft occurred in between 0700 and 0815 hours. An officer later located the vehicle unoccupied a few blocks away with the stereo stolen.

Residential Burglary – 1000 block of Leneve Pl.
At 1056 hours, an officer responded to an alarm. The officer discovered that an unknown suspect forced entry into the home and stole property. A neighbor heard the alarm and entry being forced into the residence but waited to call.

Auto Burglary - 1300 Brewster Dr.
At 1114 hours, a Community Service Officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. An unidentified suspect broke the window of a parked vehicle and stole change. The theft occurred between 1015 and 1100 hours.

Warrant Arrest - 10900 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0022 hours, a 37 year old Richmond woman and her boyfriend came to the Police Department from a nearby Richmond motel to seek help in resolving an argument. It was discovered that the woman had a No Cite misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. She was arrested, booked and transported to the Contra Costa County Detention Facility in Martinez.

August 28th

Warrant Arrest – Santa Clara Ave at Lassen St.
At approximately 0811 hours during a suspicious vehicle contact, an El Cerrito police officer arrested the occupant, a 28 year old female from El Sobrante, for a no bail DUI warrant. The female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Petty Theft Arrest – Walgreens 11565 San Pablo Ave
At approximately 1153 hours, while enroute to Walgreens for a theft that just occurred, an El Cerrito police officer located the suspect vehicle fleeing southbound on San Pablo Ave at Potrero Ave. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Manila Ave at Kearney St. The passenger, a 31 year old female from Richmond was placed under citizen’s arrest for stealing make-up. The female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave at Moeser Ln.
An El Cerrito police officer contacted a 52 year old male from San Pablo walking in the area. The male had two no bail warrants for his arrest stemming from El Cerrito PD cases. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – Starbucks, 3090 El Cerrito Plaza
Sometime between 1600 and 2000 hours, the victim’s mountain bike and helmet were stolen from the Fairmount Avenue side of Starbucks. The bike and helmet were secured to a railing with a lock.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Avenue / Bayview Avenue
At 2232 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 41 year old female from San Pablo for possession of Methamphetamines. She was booked and cited.

August 29th

Grand Theft – Verizon 410 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 1029 hours three unknown suspects stole (8) cell phones from the display shelves and fled the store on foot southbound through the Plaza parking lot. The suspects used an unknown tool to cut the security cables to the phones. All three suspects were described as black male adults in their mid 20’s, wearing black colored jackets.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave at Madison Ave.
During a pedestrian contact at approximately 1115 hours, an El Cerrito police officer arrested a 55 year old male from Richmond on a theft warrant. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Arrest for Domestic Violence and Possession of Methamphetamine – 800 block of Elm St.
At approximately 1531 hours, El Cerrito police officers were dispatch to the area for a verbal argument between a male and female. Upon arrival, officer’s contacted a male and female in front of a residence. An El Cerrito police officer arrested a 48 year old male after they learned that the male punched his girlfriend in the face. The female victim suffered a bruise and laceration to her right eye. The male was also found to be in possession of approximately 3.7grams of methamphetamine. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Warrant Arrest – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave
At 1947 hours, An EL Cerrito Officer located a beige Honda which was reported stolen to Santa Rosa PD in the Safeway parking lot. Surveillance was set up and a short time later a 38 year old man from Santa Rosa was arrested when he returned to the vehicle. The man was also wanted on 4 Sonoma County Warrants. He was transported to MDF.

DUI – Highway 4 / Willow Ave
At 2319 hours, while returning from MDF after dropping off the above mentioned prisoner, an El Cerrito Officer observed an obviously impaired driver travelling westbound on Highway 4. He initiated a traffic stop and arrested a 31 year old Rodeo man who was cited and released.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue / Manila Avenue
At 2349 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 27 year old female from Berkeley on a no cite Contra Costa County warrant. She was transported to MDF.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – Mira Vista Hotel, 6009 Potrero Avenue
At 0443 hours, an officer located a stolen Dodge Charger in the Mira Vista Hotel parking lot. The vehicle was still warm and appeared to be recently parked. Video surveillance was reviewed and the suspect identified. The suspect, a 15 year old male from San Pablo, was arrested a short time later when he left the hotel. He was booked and released to a guardian.

August 30th
Warrant Arrest – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave
At approximately 0857 hours, El Cerrito police officers were dispatched to the US Bank for a possible forgery in progress. An El Cerrito police officer contacted and arrested a 29 year old female from Richmond on a $10K warrant out of Contra Costa County. The female caused a disturbance at the bank which was closed, but did not attempt any type of forgery. The female was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Shoplift, Resisting or Delaying an Officer, Warrant – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue
At 2022 hours, while working an unrelated incident, officers were flagged down regarding a theft which just occurred. A 46 year old male resident of Emeryville was detained but attempted to flee on foot while the matter was being investigated. He was ultimately placed under citizen arrest. Coincidently, the subject was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on charges stemming from an El Cerrito theft arrest at Safeway in July. He was cited on the new charges and transported to MDF on the warrant.

August 31st

Auto Burglary – 300 block of San Carlos Ave
At approximately 0828 hours an unknown suspect smashed the window to the victims silver BMW X5 and stole the victim’s purse and cell phone. The victim’s credit card was later used in Oakland CA.

Auto Burglary – Peet’s Coffee 9895 San Pablo Ave
Between 0720-0730 hours an unknown suspect smashed the right front window to the victims 2015 Toyota Prius and stole the victims backpack. The backpack contained over $2000 worth of electronics.

Warrant Arrest – 11360 San Pablo Ave
At approximately 1029 hours, El Cerrito police officers were dispatched to the area for a male yelling and hitting cars in the parking lot. An El Cerrito police officer located and arrested a 35 year old male from San Francisco on a probation violation warrant. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Counterfeit Currency Arrest – Atlas Liquors, 11382 San Pablo Avenue
At 2125 hours, an officer arrested a 25 year old El Cerrito man after he tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill. He was released on a citation.
