Narrative:

On August 22, 2015, at about 12:25 PM, a 24 year-old male named Omar Simental and a male juvenile companion were standing outside of a multi-family apartment complex in the 800 block of Warwick Avenue in Thousand Oaks. They were confronted by a group of male suspects. A fight ensued and both victims were battered. Omar Simenthal and a male juvenile associate were injured but did not need medical treatment. Simenthal, and the suspects involved in the incident are gang members.

During the confrontation, a suspect, later identified as Cesar Corrales displayed a handgun in a threatening manner.

On August 24, 2015, at about 8:00 PM, members of the Thousand Oaks Police Special Enforcement Unit arrested Cesar Corrales and a male juvenile for their involvement in the battery and brandishing of the firearm.

On August 28, 2015, at approximately 10:00 AM, detectives with the Special Enforcement Unit arrested Luis Navarro for his involvement in the battery and brandishing investigation.

Suspect Corrales was arrested for 245(a)(1) PC. – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 415(1) PC – Disturbing the Peace by Fighting, 417(a)(2) PC – Drawing or Exhibiting a Firearm, and 186.22(a) PC – Gang Step Act (Street Terrorism). Corrales was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility with a $100,000 bail; he is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on August 28, 2015.

Navarro was arrested for 245(a)(1) PC. – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 415(1) PC – Disturbing the Peace by Fighting, and 186.22(a) PC – Gang Step Act (Street Terrorism). Navarro was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility with a $100,000 bail; he is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on September 1, 2015.

The male juvenile was arrested for 245(a)(1) PC. – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 415(1) PC – Disturbing the Peace by Fighting, 242 PC – Battery, and 186.22(a) PC – Gang Step Act (Street Terrorism). The juvenile was lodged into the Juvenile Justice Facility and is pending trial.
