Burglary & Vandalism at San Benancio Middle School/Washington Union School District

Synopsis: On 8/27/15, Deputy B. Smith responded to San Benancio Middle School to investigate the report of a burglary and vandalism to school property that had occurred during the early morning hours of 8/26/15. Video surveillance footage at the school campus captured footage of two suspects entering onto school property at about 0100hrs. The two suspects broke into a shed and stole two portable black and gray Husky air compressors, and 50ft of air hoses. Additionally the two suspects vandalized the electrical panels on two school busses. The fuel line to one of the school’s vans had also been punctured and about 35 gallons of gasoline had been siphoned from the vehicle. School officials stated they believed the two suspects were not only attempting to steal items from the school but were also attempting to disrupt the first day of school for the staff and students attending the school. All repairs have been made to the vehicles. Anyone with any information regarding this case is strongly urged to contact Deputy B. Smith at the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
