The Upper Macungie Township Police Department will once again conduct the Operation Safe Stop program for the 2015-2016 school year. Operation Safe Stop is a public awareness and enforcement effort to educate the motoring public that passing a stopped school bus, when children are loading or unloading, is both dangerous and illegal.
In Upper Macungie Township, we proudly provide the Operation Safe Stop program for the entire school year. Last year we successfully conducted 430 documented safe stop checks. While conducting these safe stop checks, officers arrive at nominated bus stops and not only monitor the stop, but interact with parents and children. Our goal is to make sure the bus stops are safe, but also to make ourselves available to residents who may have concerns or questions.
We do need your help in keeping this program successful. In the next few days all Parkland families will be recieving school bus stop assignments. If you would like the police department to add your bus stop to our list and be a part of this program, we need some important information from you. Please email the following information to Officer Bill Rohrbach at [email protected]:
1. The location of the bus stop (please be specific).
2. The pick-up time in the morning.
3. The drop-off time in the afternoon.
4. The bus number.
