Narrative:
On 07/26/2015, an unknown suspect stole a “fanny pack” from the victim’s unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the lot at the Ojai Farmer’s Market. Contained in the fanny pack were credit cards and the victim’s deceased father’s NYPD flat badge. Detectives learned that the stolen credit cards were used at several places throughout Ventura and Oxnard on 07/26/2015.
A request to identify the suspect was sent out to the public. The request contained a video clip of the suspect making the fraudulent transactions. Detectives working this case received numerous phone calls from several citizens who recognized the suspect and provided his name. This led to the identification and arrest of the suspect. In addition, the stolen wallet and NYPD badge were recovered and returned to the victim. Rosales was booked at the Ventura County Jail with a bail amount of $55,000.00.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their help in solving this case, which led to the recovery of a very sentimental piece of property.
