Narrative:
On August 18th, 2015, The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects involved in identity thefts occurring in Ventura County.
On August 16th, 2015, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office received information from a recent victim of Identity Theft that the victim’s personal information was currently being fraudulently used at a local business. Investigators from the Thousand Oaks Police Investigations Bureau immediately initiated an investigation and began developing additional suspect information and worked in cooperation with the local business to prevent any further fraudulent use of the victim’s personal information.
On August 18, 2015, two suspects were detained in regards to this investigation. During a search of their vehicle, numerous items indicating these subjects were involved in a large scale identity theft operation were recovered, including over 35 fraudulent California Drivers licenses all bearing different names and identifying information. These fraudulent identifications were being actively used to commit crimes in Ventura County and other surrounding counties. The two suspects were arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime, commercial burglary and identity theft. They were booked into the Ventura County Jail with a set bail of $250,000.
Thousand Oaks Police investigators will be conducting follow-up investigations in an attempt to identify other possible victims of identity thefts perpetrated by these suspects. The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to remind all of its residents to be alert for and report any suspicious activity regarding their personal information.
