Looking for a challenge? Do you want to make a difference in your community? Are you interested in a career in law enforcement? The Ontario Police Department Explorers can help you achieve these goals!
The Ontario Police Explorer program is a paramilitary program that instills discipline, courage, responsibility, integrity, professionalism, pride, and most importantly teamwork.
In order to join, you must be 14-20 years of age, maintain a 2.0 GPA in school, pass a background, and pass a physical agility test. The physical agility test includes push-ups, sit-ups, and a one mile run within 12 minutes.
Once you have passed the above requirements, the 10-week recruitment program begins. The recruitment program includes a physical agility test, police codes tests, and various training classes. After graduating from the 10 week recruitment program, you have one year to attend and graduate from a Police Explorer Academy.
When all of the above mentioned requirements are met, you will become part of the Ontario Police Explorer Post 350!
As an Explorer you will work numerous details, including checkpoints, traffic control, and community events. Explorers receive training by the Ontario Police S.W.A.T. team, the K-9 unit, Forensics, and other divisions within the police department. Explorers are allowed to ride along with Officers, with the Air Support unit, the K-9 unit, and the Gang unit.
