On 8-15-2015, at about 6:45am, Chula Vista Police Dispatch received calls of a small plane landing on the 125 Freeway near East H Street. Officers were unable to locate a plane in the area. A short time later, CVPD dispatch received more calls of a possible plane landing in the intersection of Eastlake Parkway and Hunte Parkway. Upon arrival, officers found a small vintage plane upside down in the intersection. The pilot was the only occupant of the plane and had to make an emergency landing on his way to Brown Field due to a possible engine failure. During the emergency landing the plane turned upside down. The pilot was evaluated by medics on scene for complaints of pain. The plane did not strike any vehicles and the FAA is handling the investigation.
