DATE/TIME: Wednesday / August 5, 2015 / 10:22 p.m.
INCIDENT: PC 236 – False Imprisonment
LOCATION: 25000 block of 9th St., City of Highland
VICTIM: Confidential
SUSPECT: Michael Rodarte / 24 YOA / Resident of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at approximately 10:22 p.m., deputies from the Highland Police Department, while patrolling the streets of Highland, located a male subject in the 25000 block of 9th Street.
The suspect, Michael Rodarte, was standing in the middle of 9th Street yelling obscenities at several people in front of a nearby apartment and challenging them to fight him. When deputies attempted contact, Rodarte ran to apartment 5 and locked himself inside. Investigation would later show this apartment belongs to Rodarte’s brother and sister in law. Rodarte remained belligerent inside the apartment and began threatening his sister in law, who fled out the back of the apartment, flagged deputies down and said she was in fear for her life because of Rodarte’s behavior.
As deputies attempted to get Rodarte to surrender peacefully, a family member kicked open the front door and Rodarte retreated into a bedroom and locked himself in with two small children and refused to release them. After a short time, deputies forced their way into the room, overpowered Rodarte and took him into custody without incident. The children were unharmed and released to their parents.
A records check showed Rodarte was wanted on two no bail felony warrants. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center on his warrants and false imprisonment charges and is being held without bail.
