INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: 7400 block of McKinley Street, Highland
VICTIM: Daniel Munoz, age 4, a resident of Highland
SUSPECT(s): Darron Daniels (20 YOA) / Maurice Kelley (25 YOA)
SUMMARY: ***UPDATE***
During the course of the investigation, detectives served search warrants and conducted numerous witness interviews. As a result, investigators arrested Darron Daniels (20 YOA) and Maurice Kelley (25 YOA) for one count of murder (P.C. 187) and two counts of attempted murder (P.C. 664/187). Daniels and Kelley were booked at Central Detention Center, in San Bernardino, where they are currently being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
On Wednesday July 29, 2015, at approximately 8:28 p.m., deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a report of shots heard in the 7400 block of McKinley Street, in Highland. Upon arrival they discovered the victim, Daniel Munoz, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation. Investigators have identified a person of interest, described as a Hispanic male, early 20’s, 5’8” to 5’11, 160 - 180 pounds, and are asking anyone who may have been in or around the area to contact investigators. Investigators are also looking for a 1990’s, 4 door Toyota Camry, white in color with black bumpers on the front and back.
