Chula Vista Police Arrest Shooting Suspect

On 07/31/2015, the Chula Vista Police Department received several 911 calls from citizens in the area of 1500 Oleander in the City of Chula Vista. These 911 callers reported several shots fired in the area.
Upon arriving, officers immediately saw several .223 caliber shell casings in the driveway of one of the homes on the street. Officers also noticed "strike" marks (bullet holes) into the residence that was occupied by three people at the time of the shooting.
Officers spoke with the victim who stated a family member had shot into their house. The victim stated that prior to the shooting he and the suspect had gotten into a physical fight just prior to the shooting. Per the victim the suspect sped from the residence after the fight to his home and retrieved a .223 caliber rifle. The suspect then drove back to the victim's home, exited the vehicle, and was seen by witnesses firing multiple shots into the house.
The suspect then sped away from the scene back to his home and called family members telling them he wanted to kill himself with a gun he had in his possession. These family members relayed this information to patrol officers.
The Chula Vista SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated and responded to the scene. After negotiations with the suspect he surrendered without incident. The suspect was later transported and booked into county jail
