Farrington Hwy. main repair- Water conservation needed from Honokai Hale to Waianae

Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews continue repairs on the 24-inch main on Farrington Hwy., near Nanakuli Beach Park, that broke yesterday at about 4:30 PM.

The break is on a transmission main that provides the Leeward Coast with about 60 percent of its water supply. The main will not be in service while crews are making the repair.

Therefore, the BWS is asking all residents from Honokai Hale to Waianae to please use water sparingly and for priority needs until further notice. This means using water for cooking, drinking, and personal hygiene only.

Repair work is also forcing the complete closure of Farrington Hwy. from Piliokahi Ave. to Nanakuli Ave. Special duty officers are helping to re-direct traffic to the nearby bypass bridge where only one lane is open in each direction. Motorists are advised to expect delays and to drive with caution.

The BWS sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience to the community caused by this main break and appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and motorists who have been affected by it.
