July 13, 2015
Auto Burglary -3300 block of Carlson Blvd:
An officer reports an unknown suspect smashed out the left rear passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred in between 7/12 at 1800 hours and 7/13 at 0730 hours.

Auto Burglary- 10000 block of San Pablo Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect smashed out the right rear passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred between 7/12 at 2300 hours and 7/13 at 0800 hours.

In-custody Shoplifter 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
Around 1638 hours, an officer was patrolling the El Cerrito Plaza when she was flagged down by loss prevention agents in regards to a theft that just occurred. The suspect was last seen running southbound in the plaza. The officer responded to the area and located the suspect. He was detained and later identified by loss prevention agents as the person who had committed the theft. The 57 year old male from Berkeley was placed under citizen’s arrest and transported to the El Cerrito PD for booking. After booking, the male was released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – 2200 Block of Arlington Boulevard:
At 1919 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 34 year old male, for an outstanding warrant from Contra Costa County. The male was booked and transported county hospital.

Warrant Arrest – Cutting Boulevard/San Pablo Ave:
At 2130 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 32 year old male, for an outstanding warrant from Contra Costa County. The male was booked and transported to county jail.

July 14, 2015
Auto Burglary-9800 block of San Pablo Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the front right of the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred between 0600-0650 hours.

Residential Burglary-800 block of Ashbury Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unlocked door and stolen jewelry. The theft occurred between 0900-1030 hours.

Residential Burglary-2500 block of Carquinez Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect forced out a panel from the rear door of the victim’s residence to gain entry and removed jewelry. The theft occurred between 1330 hours and 1445 hours.

Warrant Arrest/Possession of a Controlled Substance-I80/Cutting Blvd:
Around 1555 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for a vehicle violation. During the investigation, the officer conducted a warrants check on the driver and discovered the 49 year old male resident of San Pablo had an outstanding warrant. The male was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the male, he was found to be possession of suspected methamphetamine. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary-5800 block of Cutting Blvd:
Around 1407 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property.

Burglary – 11900 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 0513 hours, officers were dispatched to an alarm from a business. Upon arrival one of the glass doors to the business was shattered. K9 units cleared the interior of the business with negative results. The suspect took several hundred dollars from the business.

July 15, 2015
Petty Theft from Vehicle- Willow St@ Liberty St:
An officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlock vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred in between 7/14@1800 and 7/15@ 0848 hours.

Driving Under the Influence Collision-9900 Block of San Pablo Ave:
Around 0923 hours, officers were dispatched to a non-injury collision. During the investigation, an officer noticed one of the involved driver’s appeared to be intoxicated. The officer had the driver conduct several field sobriety test. After completing the tests, the officer placed the driver under arrest for driving while under the influence. The 56 year old male from Richmond was placed under arrest. After booking, the male was released to a sober neighbor.

Residential Burglary- 2600 block of Ellerhorst St:
An officer reports an unknown suspect broke the lock box to obtain the key for the residence and removed property. The theft occurred between 7/12@ 1700 hours and 7/15@1000 hours

Grand Theft-4010 El Cerrito Plaza (AT&T):
Around 1040 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect ripped out several I-Phones from the display and fled the store. The suspect was described as being a African adult male, approximately 25 years old, 160lbs, wearing a red/white/blue polo shirt and dark jeans.

Stolen Vehicle/Possession of a Controlled Substance-S.52nd St @Gordon Ave:
Around 1030 hours, an officer was patrolling the area when he noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area. The officer conducted a registration check and discovered the vehicle had been report stolen to the Richmond Police Department. Other officers responded to the area and a felony vehicle stop was conducted on the stolen vehicle. The driver, a 22 year old male from Richmond and the passenger, a 22 year old female from Richmond was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the vehicle, suspected methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle. The male was booked for stolen vehicle and the female was booked for possession of a controlled substance. After booking the female was cited and the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 16
Petty Theft -11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At approximately 1443 hours, officers responded to Safeway for a shoplifter in-custody detail. Loss prevention agents noticed a 53 year old male from Richmond walked out the store with unpaid merchandise. The male was detained outside the store and placed under citizen’s arrest. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department. The male was booked and released on a citation.

Resisting Arrest and Warrant Arrest – 500 block of Lexington Avenue:
At 1911 hours, an officer spotted 53 year old male walking on Central Avenue who was a wanted person. The officer attempted to stop the male but the male fled into the block. The male was located in front of a apartment complex and ordered to get on the ground. The male refused several orders to stop and get onto the ground and was going to attempt to run from officers. However, a K9 officer deployed his K9 who helped bring the male into custody. A warrant check revealed the male had several felony warrants.

Robbery – 7200 block of Central Avenue:
At 2009 hours, officers were dispatched to the listed location for a report of robbery. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim who advised as she was walking east on Central Avenue two black males approached her, demanded she unzip her jacket and pockets. One of the suspects appeared to be armed with a rifle and put it to the victim’s chest and took her purse. The suspects then fled into an awaiting vehicle and fled east on Central Avenue and then south on Ashbury Avenue. The victim’s purse contained a work laptop and 2 cell phones.

Stolen vehicle and Evasion – Peerless/Cutting Boulevard:
At 0225 hours, an officer attempted to stop a white BMW with paper plates. The vehicle fled and a short pursuit ensued. Officers followed the vehicle to San Pablo Avenue and Swans Way where it attempted to make a u-turn but collided into a light pole. The driver fled on foot and a search was conducted with the help of Richmond and San Pablo Police with negative results. The two passengers were detained in the vehicle. They were interviewed and then released. During the search of the vehicle officers located a large quantity of mail belonging to a resident in Richmond. Investigation is ongoing as of this writing.

July 17, 2015
Vandalism – 7000 block of Potrero Ave:
Between 7/16/15 at 1830 hours and 7/17/15 at 0520 hours, an unknown suspect sprayed the interior and exterior of the victim’s vehicle with a fire extinguisher.

Vandalism – 1300 block of Norvell St:
Between 7/16/15 at 1500 hours to 7/17/15 at 0800 hours, an unknown suspect spray-painted swear words on the victim’s vehicle.

Vandalism – 1400 block of Norvell St:
Between 0000 hours and 0800 hours, an unknown suspect spray-painted the victim’s rear license plate and trunk lid.

Vandalism – 1300 block of Norvell St:
Between 7/16/15 at 2030 hours and 7/17/15 at 0700 hours, an unknown suspect spray-painted the victim’s headlights.

Vandalism – 1400 block of Norvell St:
Between 0000 hours and 0900 hours, an unknown suspect spray-painted the victim’s front license plate, driver window, and windshield.

Vandalism – 1400 block of Norvell St:
Between 7/16/15 at 2330 hours and 7/17/15 at 0930 hours, an unknown suspect spray-painted “pyro” and flames on the victim’s hood.

Vandalism – 1300 block of Norvell St:
Between 7/16/15 at 1900 hours to 7/17/15 at 1309 hours, an unknown suspect spray-painted the victim’s driver side window.

Theft from auto – 1600 block of Roger Ct:
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole loose change from the victim’s unlocked vehicle sometime between 7-16 at 2100 hours and 7-17 at 0420 hours.

Vandalism- Gladys Ave/ Norvell St:
An officer reports an unknown suspect used spray paint to deface the victim’s vehicle with words and designs. The incident occurred between 7-16 at 1700 hours and 7-17 at 0800 hours.

Theft from auto -1600 block of Navellier St:
An officer reports an unknown suspect removed miscellaneous electronic items from the victim’s unlocked vehicle sometime between 7-16 at 1600 hours and 7-17 at 1100 hours.

Shoplifting- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1748 hours, an officer responded to the business for a report of theft of alcohol. With the suspect description provided by a security guard, officers were able to locate a possible suspect. The suspect, a 32-year-old male from El Cerrito, was wearing the same clothes from the theft. More investigation is needed to determine if the man is in fact responsible for the theft.

Battery, Warrant Arrest- 3300 block of Santa Clara Ave:
At 0214 hours, Officers were dispatched to a report of two men fighting in a carport area. Officers arrived and located two brothers, one of which had a visible injury to his head. Both brothers declined to prosecute each other for battery. However, one brother, a 33-year-old Richmond resident, had a warrant for his arrest. The man was released at the scene with a new court date to address his warrant and was transported to the hospital for the injury to his head.

Warrant Arrest- S.49th/ Wall Ave:
At 0118 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and contacted a 36-year-old Pinole resident who had a warrant for his arrest. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 18, 2015
Recovered stolen vehicle – 11101 San Pablo Ave:
At 0730 hours, an officer located a 1997 Mazda 626 that had been reported stolen to RPD on 3/11/2015.

Warrant arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0750 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 36-year-old San Francisco man for two outstanding warrants. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant arrest – 2000 EC Plaza (Ross):
At 1035 hours, an officer was dispatched to a suspicious person call in front of Ross about a man pretending to shoot his finger pistol at the store. Officers located the 36-year-old San Francisco man and arrested him for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of drug paraphernalia – 11555 San Pablo Ave:
While conducting a security check of the complex, an officer came upon a 52-year-old Oakland man preparing to smoke crack cocaine. A search revealed more crack cocaine. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department then released.

Auto Burglary- 10500 block of San Pablo Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle but did not remove any property. The incident occurred between 1940 and 2110 hours.

Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave/Barrett Ave:
At 0125 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop after observing several vehicle code violations. The officer made contact with the driver, a 24-year-old San Pablo man, who appeared to be intoxicated. The man was arrested at the conclusion of several field sobriety tests and was later released to a sober family member with a written promise to appear.

Defrauding an Inn Keeper, Drunk in Public- S. 56th St/ Potrero Ave:
At 0223 hours, an officer was flagged down by a cab driver regarding a fare who had left the cab without paying. The officer located the 22-year-old Richmond man nearby and discovered the man was heavily intoxicated. The cab driver refused to place the man under citizen’s arrest; however, the man was unable to care for himself appropriately due to his level of intoxication. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 19, 2015
Vehicle theft – 1400 block of Arlington Blvd:
Between 7/17/15 at 1500 hours and 7/18/15 at 0900 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s green 1997 Honda CR-V.

Vehicle theft – 1600 block of Kearney St:
At 1007 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1996 Honda Accord while it was parked outside the business with the keys in it.

Vehicle theft – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
Sometime on 7/6/15, an unknown suspect stole the victims 2000 Dodge Caravan. The victim waited two weeks to report it because he suspected a friend stole it.

Driving Under the Influence Collision- San Pablo Ave/ Central Ave:
Around 2107 hours, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate and driving erratically on Central Avenue. When the officer contacted the driver, he noticed the driver appeared to be intoxicated. The driver, a 35-year-old Richmond resident, participated in several field sobriety tests and was ultimately arrested for DUI. The man was later released to a sober friend with a written promise to appear.

Possession of Controlled Substance- Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 2252 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation and spoke with the 48-year-old Richmond man who was driving the vehicle. During his interaction with the man, the officer discovered approximately 1 g of methamphetamine in the man’s possession. The man was arrested and later released with a written promise to appear.

July 20, 2015
Arson – 11545 San Pablo Ave:
At 1638 hours, officers were dispatched to the rear of Staples after a passerby reported a brush fire near the freeway. ECFD responded and extinguished the flames. It appears an unknown suspect started the fire.
