Special Olympics Personnel Thank The City Of Lawndale For Their Support.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Kim Unland, Law Enforcement Torch Run Director for Southern California, and Global Messenger Krystal thanked the Lawndale City Council for their support of the Special Olympics at a Lawndale City Council meeting on July 20, 2015.<P> Lieutenant Unland presented three Special Olympics Torch runners, Kaelyn, Sarah, and Alyssa with certificates of recognition for their involvement in the Special Olympics Torch Run through the City of Lawndale.

Every two years, Special Olympics athletes come together to compete at the Special Olympics World Games. This summer, over 6,500 athletes from 165 countries will descend upon Los Angeles to show the true meaning of courage, joy and determination.

Athletes will be competing in 25 different sports at venues throughout Los Angeles.

The opening ceremony will be at the Los Angeles Coliseum on July 25, 2015.
