On Monday, 07-13-15 at 3:00 p.m., during an argument, a 31-year old San Francisco resident was the victim of an assault with a deadly weapon via knife by a 43-year old Daly City resident. This occurred in an apartment on the 7500 block of Mission Street. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for multiple stab wounds. The suspect was arrested.

On Tuesday, 07-17-15 at 5:45 p.m. two females, in their 20’s and 30’s were victims of solicitation for sex by a subject who was at a restaurant at the Westlake Shopping Center. Both victims wanted to press charges against the 63-year old suspect from Daly City.

There were ten arrests for narcotics-related crimes and five arrests for driving under the influence this past week.


Robberies

There were two robberies during the past week.

On Thursday, 07-16-15 at 5:20 p.m., a 40-year old Daly City resident was walking in the area of Mission Street and Acton Avenue when a male subject attempted to take his belongings he was holding. The victim said he was able to push the suspect away and kept walking. The victim said the subject returned a second time and pushed him from behind and again tried to take his belongings. The victim was able to throw the subject on the ground and hold him down until police arrived. The 20-year old subject was arrested for attempted robbery. The victim was unharmed.

On Friday, 07-17-15 at 6:30 p.m., two Target loss prevention officers were the victim of strong armed robbery and battery via kicks and punches to the body after attempting to detain two subjects for shoplifting. Both subjects, 19 and 20 year old San Francisco residents, were arrested for robbery and battery.


Residential Burglaries

There was one residential burglary during the past week.

On Tuesday, 07-14-15 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., a resident on the 100 block of Eastmoor Avenue reported his apartment was burglarized via an unknown means, and the property that was stolen was cash. Four days later, the resident’s 13-year old nephew confessed to committing the crime. The victims did not want to seek prosecution.



Commercial Burglaries

There were four commercial burglaries during the past week.

On Wednesday, 07-15-15 between 2:10 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., the Valero gas station was burglarized by an unknown subject who pried open the door. The investigation is continuing.

Between Tuesday, 07-14-15 at 12:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 07-15-15 at 10:40 a.m., an unknown subject broke the lock of a storage locker at the Public Storage facility on King Drive and stole 10 pairs of shoes.

Between April 2015 and Wednesday, 07-15-15 at 10:40 a.m., an unknown subject drilled out the lock to a storage locker at the Public Storage facility on King Drive but did not take any property.

On Friday, 07-17-15 at 3:30 a.m., an unknown subject burglarized the McDonald’s restaurant on Junipero Serra Boulevard and took cash from the safe. This investigation is continuing.



Vehicle Burglaries

There were eight vehicle burglaries during the past week.

• Price Street/Wyandotte Avenue—nothing was taken from a 2002 Toyota Camry. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on 07-13-15 and 7:00 a.m. on 07-14-15.
• 100 block of San Fernando Way—an in-dash AM/FM radio was taken from a 2001 Honda Civic. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 7:10 p.m. on 07-13-15 and 6:35 a.m. on 07-14-15.
• 200 block of Baltimore Way—a backpack containing DMW paperwork and a Visa card was taken from a 1997 Lexus 300. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred between 9:00 a.m. on 07-17-15 and 9:00 a.m. on 07-18-15.
• 100 block of Crestwood Drive—an iPhone, and two pairs of sunglasses were taken from a 2014 Subaru WRX. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on 07-17-15 between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
• 24 Hour Fitness parking lot—a Sony laptop was taken from a 2002 Honda Accord. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on 07-18-15 between 9:00 p.m. an 10:20 p.m.
• Serramonte Shopping Center near JC Penney—a laptop and currency was taken from a 2007 Mazda 6. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on 07-19-15 between 11:30 a.m. and 10:50 p.m.
• Boulevard parking lot—nothing was taken from a 2013 Subaru Forester. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on 07-20-15 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
• Classic Bowl parking lot—an iPad and currency was taken from a 2015 Honda Pilot. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 10:15 p.m. on 07-19-15 and 12:30 a.m. on 07-20-15.


Stolen Vehicles

There were seven vehicles stolen and three were recovered.

• 590 block of Mission Street—a 1991 Toyota Camry. Occurred on 07-13-15 between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
• 4000 block of Callan Boulevard—a 1994 Honda Accord. Occurred between 2:30 p.m. on 07-13-15 and 9:45 a.m. on 07-14-15. **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on 07-14-15.
• City Toyota parking lot—a 2015 Toyota Camry. Occurred on 07-15-15 at 5:00 a.m.
• Ottilia Street/Oriente Street—a 1993 Infinity J30. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 07-15-15 and 8:00 a.m. on 07-16-15.
• 6700 block of Mission Street—a 2000 Honda Accord. Occurred on 07-17-15 between 1:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. **Recovered by Brisbane P.D. on 07-17-15.
• Lucky parking lot—a 2008 Toyota Highlander. Occurred on 07-17-15 between midnight and 1:00 p.m.
• Unit block of Clearview Drive—a 1994 Ford Explorer. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 07-17-15 and 7:49 a.m. on 07-18-15. **Recovered by South San Francisco P.D. on 07-18-15.

National Night Out—Tuesday August 4, 5:00-8:00 pm, at Serramonte Center

Please join the City of Daly City and the City of Pacifica, who have partnered together to celebrate National Night Out, America’s “Night Out Against Crime” on Tues., August 4th, 2015. National Night Out is a national effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities and community-police partnerships. It also sends a message to criminals letting them know that communities are organized and fighting back.

This free event is made possible through the generous support of Allied Waste Services, Macy’s, MADD, Serramonte Center, and Sonitrol Security Systems. Bring your family out for an evening to meet fellow residents and Police, Fire, and City staff, fun activities, and small giveaways for children. In addition, the popular Off the Grid Food Trucks will be onsite (fees for food and beverages apply). The event will be located on the northeast corner, near the digital billboard sign. Make National Night Out part of your summer!



22nd Annual Fun Day at Classic Bowling Center August 5, 2015

The Bay Area Knights of Columbus Foundation for Developmentally Disabled Children and Adults, in conjunction with the Classic Bowling Center in Daly City and Daly City Host Lions Club, are holding their 22nd annual fun day at the bowling alley. This event is free for children and adults with developmental disabilities and includes free bowling, free lunch and fun dancing. (Transportation is not included) Last year there were over 500 participants from the Bay Area, including San Francisco, Daly City, San Bruno, Pacifica, Colma, Brisbane and parts of the East Bay. Backpack and School Supply Drive

In partnership with Starbucks, the Town of Colma, the Daly City Partnership and the Daly City Police and Fire Departments, the City of Daly City is collecting school supplies and backpacks for school-age children. Backpacks and school supplies can be donated and dropped off at any Daly City or Colma fire station, police department or Starbucks. Monetary donations are also accepted online at www.dcpartnership.org , or by making a check donation payable to Daly City Partnership.

If you know of a child who may need assistance with school supplies, the child’s family may sign up at the Daly City Community Service Center located at 350-90th Street, Daly City. Enrollment guidelines are proof of income and residency (some South San Francisco and Brisbane families may apply if their children are enrolled in a Daly City school).

Pacific Islands Festival, August 15, 2015

The second annual “Pacific Islands Festival” will be held at the Jefferson High School on Saturday, August 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. featuring performances by local music groups and will include a carnival, food and non-food vendors. This event is hosted by Bigbody Cisco from Bigbodyradio.com.
