Narrative:
On Saturday, 7-18-15, between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM, investigators drove to the residences of 43 registered sex offenders in the Ojai Valley area, to confirm each registrant was in compliance with reporting requirements, per section 290 of the California Penal Code. During the operation, investigators met with 29 of the registrants and confirmed they were in compliance. Of the remaining 14 registrants, 6 were away from home, 1 had moved to another jurisdiction and was in the process of registering, and 7 were not located or were no longer living at their registered address. Investigators will be following up on locating the remaining, outstanding individuals for possible criminal prosecution.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting similar sweeps on an ongoing basis, to verify registered sex offenders are living at their reported residences and in compliance with any probation or parole terms. The compliance checks are funded by the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE / ELEAS) Grant.
