Representatives from Sheriff’s OES, Watershed Protection District, and the Contractor will be available to answer questions about the hazard mitigation process and plan. Detailed Hazard Maps will be available for viewing.

When adopted by the Board of Supervisors, he Hazard Mitigation Plan provides a template for ensuring the future safety of developments, and actions that can be taken to prepare for, or prevent disastrous impacts to communities in Ventura County.

In addition to safeguarding our communities, the Hazard Mitigation Planning process provides an added benefit by allowing financial incentives in the form of flood insurance policy discounts for communities that exceed the minimum floodplain protection. The Community Rating System (CRS) was established as a benefit for those communities that provide public information on reducing flood damage to properties and encourage a comprehensive approach to floodplain management.
