Victims and Conditions

 

Hancock Co.,- All lanes of I-70 WB at the 111mm are now open after all of the WB lanes were closed this morning due to a personal injury crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Indiana State Police troopers were dispatched to I-70 WB at the 111mm at 7:13 a.m. on the report of a single vehicle crash. Evidence gathered at the scene and witness statements indicate that the driver of a van apparently fell asleep and drove off the right side of the roadway. The driver woke up, overcorrected and brought the van back onto the WB lanes then lost control and rolled the van off the right side of the roadway. Some of the four passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

The teenage driver was transported to Hancock Regional Hospital. Three passengers were taken to Methodist Hospital, two by air ambulance. One was transported to Riley Hospital. All injuries were considered to be non-life threatening according to investigators. All of the occupants are from Wisconsin.

An alternate route of travel was SR 109.

The driver and passenger’s identification and their conditions are listed below.

Driver- Miguel Rojas, 17, Plain, Wisconsin/ treated and released, cut to right arm, Hancock Regional Hospital

Front seat passenger- Saul Rojas, 33, Stratford, Wisconsin/ Uninjured

Back seat passenger- Lizeth Tondhe, 17, Stratford, Wisconsin/ Internal Injuries, critical condition, Methodist Hospital

Back seat passenger- Rosa Hernandez, 33, Stratford, Wisconsin/ Internal Injuries, critical condition, Methodist Hospital

Back seat passenger- Teresa Rojas, 40, Stratford, Wisconsin/ Fractured Sternum, Methodist Hospital

Back seat Passenger- David (last name unknown) 13, Stratford, Wisconsin/ Lacerated Liver, critical condition, Riley Hospital
