July 3rd

Grand theft – 1300 block of Liberty St.
Between 7/2/15 at 1730 hours and 7/3/15 at 0730 hours, an unknown suspect entered a construction site and stole several hand and power tools.

Attempted burglary – 7600 block of Terrace Dr.
Between 7/1/15 at 1200 hours and 7/2/15 at 1600 hours, an unknown suspect pried the victim’s rear door to his residence but did not make entry.


July 4th

Vandalism, Battery, Possession of drug paraphernalia, False personation, Warrant arrest – Walgreen’s, 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At 1120 hours, officers were dispatched to the business after a female broke a bottle inside the store then pushed the manager as she was leaving. Officers located the suspect, a 38-year-old Richmond woman near an adjacent business. The woman lied about her name and attempted to discard a glass crack pipe. When the woman’s identity was revealed, she was found to have an outstanding warrant. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle theft – 3400 block of Yosemite Ave.
Between 7/3/15 at 2200 hours and 7/4/15 at 1210 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s white 1992 Acura Integra.

Recovered stolen vehicle – 11575 San Pablo Ave.
At 1442 hours, an officer located a 2008 Honda Civic that had been reported stolen to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on 7/1/15.

Missing person – 10650 San Pablo Ave.
The family member of a 53-year-old Richmond man called police after they had not seen him for several days. The man was entered into the Missing and Unidentified Persons system.

July 5th

Warrant arrest – Central Ave. / Pierce St.
At 0540 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 52-year-old transient woman for three outstanding warrants. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting, Possession of a switchblade knife – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 0935 hours, officers were dispatched to Safeway after a suspect stole seafood and fled on foot. The 46-year-old man was detained along with a friend. The manager from the business responded and positively identified the man as the responsible. The man’s friend was quickly eliminated as a suspect. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department before being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Mental health evaluation – 800 block of Galvin Dr.
At 0923 hours, officers were dispatched to an address after a 28-year-old El Cerrito man was yelling about someone having a gun while in his bathroom. Officers contacted him and found that he appeared to have suffered a psychotic break and believed he was being chased by individuals. The man was committed for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation and transported to the hospital by AMR.

Identity theft – 1100 block of Arlington Blvd.
A victim reports an unknown suspect using her credit card number to make several purchases on 7/4/15 1and 7/5/15.

Battery – 900 block of Lexington Ave.
At 1522 hours, officers were dispatched to the area for a physical fight between two men. Officers arrived on scene and located a 37-year-old El Cerrito man lying on a 19-year-old Petaluma man in the front seat of a vehicle. Officers separated the men and detained them for further investigation. The investigation revealed that the Petaluma man left his cell phone in the other man’s vehicle the night before and responded to pick it up. Once there, the El Cerrito man questioned that the other man was actually the owner of the phone. The El Cerrito man attempted to grab the phone away from the owner and a fight ensued. Both men were released from the scene and the report was forwarded to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Possession of controlled substance, probation violation- San Pablo Ave./Moeser Ln.
At 2209 hours, a 39 year old Richmond woman was contacted during a pedestrian stop and was found to be in possession of a small amount of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia which put her in violation of her county probation. The woman was arrested and later released with a signed noticed to appear.

Stolen vehicle pursuit- Cutting Blvd./ San Pablo Ave.
At 2343 hours, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a stolen white Chevy van which initially yielded to the officer. The van then drove away and a pursuit was initiated and then terminated after the vehicle exited the freeway and onto residential streets. The van was located unoccupied by the Richmond Police Department and recovered.

Warrant arrest- I-80 EB/ MacDonald Ave.
At 0217 hours, an officer contacted a 33 year old Hayward man and found that the man had a $25K no cite DUI warrant for his arrest. The man was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility after being booked at the police department.


July 6th

Recovered stolen vehicle – Potrero Ave. / Navellier St. An Officer was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle at this location. He arrived and located an unreported stolen 1998 Honda Civic out of Berkeley. He contacted Berkeley PD and learned that the vehicle was stolen sometime during the night.

Possession of marijuana for sales, Transportation of marijuana – Brewster Ave. / Arlington Blvd.
At 0836 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and found the driver, a 27-year-old Sacramento man had a suspended driver license and admitted to having marijuana. A search of the man’s vehicle was performed and officers located ½ pound of marijuana, along with evidence of sales. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department before being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant arrest – Central Ave. / Yosemite Ave.
At 1039 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 29-year-old El Cerrito man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

Attempted burglary – 2600 block of Edwards Ave.
At 1204 hours, officers were dispatched to the area after a neighbor saw a man in the rear yard of a residence. Officers arrived on scene and found that the rear door to the residence had been kicked but no entry was made. The reporting party described the suspect as a black male adult in his late teens to 20’s, wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. The suspect possibly fled in a dark colored vehicle.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Conlon Ave.
At 1232 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 67-year-old San Jose man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting – 5040 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1304 hours, officers were dispatched to Pasta Pomodoro after a suspect stole a bottle of wine from a display and fled the area. Officers circulated the area but could not locate the suspect. Approximately 35 minutes later, an officer was flagged down by a witness of the theft and informed that the suspect was walking in the area of Carlson Blvd. / San Diego St. The man was detained and positively identified by the manager of Pasta Pomodoro as the responsible. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

Armed Robbery – Cutting Blvd. / Tamalpais Ave.
At 1449 hours, officers were dispatched to the area after a suspect robbed the victim at gunpoint. Officers arrived and learned that the suspect confronted the victim, produced a firearm, and demanded money. Once receiving property, the suspect fled the area on foot. The suspect was described as a black male adult, unknown age, 6’0, 120, wearing a white baseball cap and a black/white jacket.

Controlled substance, Shoplifting- Luckys 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 2229 hours, an officer contacted a 33 year old El Cerrito man who matched the description of a shoplifting suspect which had just occurred. While speaking with the man, the officer located a small amount of controlled substance in the man’s possession. The business was unwilling to prosecute the man for theft and he was instead arrested for the drug offense. The man was booked and later released with a citation and a promise to appear.

Driving under the influence, Hit and run collision- Carmel Ave./ Fairmount Ave.
At 0009 hours, ECPD units were dispatched to the area regarding the sound of a vehicle collision in the area and a possible hit and run driver. Units located a 41 year old El Cerrito man driving his damaged vehicle away from the scene. When contacted, the man showed obvious signs of intoxication and was unaware he had struck a parked vehicle. Following a field sobriety test the man was arrested for driving under the influence and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle theft – 1600 block of Navellier St.
Between 7/5/15 at 1800 hours and 7/6/15 at 1830 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s red 1999 Honda Civic.

Vehicle theft – Liberty St./ Moeser Ln.
Between 7/6/15 at 1430 hours and 2010 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s silver 2000 Toyota Camry. Before the crime had been reported, the California Highway Patrol had already located the vehicle which had been involved in a hit and run collision and towed the vehicle from the roadway.

Armed robbery- Wall Ave./BART path
A male and female victim report that at 2300 hours, they were approached by two suspects who were wearing masks and had a black semi auto firearm. The suspects removed the purse, jewelry, and contents of the pockets of the two victims. The suspects are described as follows:

(S1) BM, 6’1”, 170 pounds, grey hooded sweatshirt, maroon sweatpants, black mask
(S2) BM, 5’8”, 155 pounds, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black mask
