June 29th

Petty Theft Arrest – Carlson Blvd / Central Avenue
At approximately 1128 hours, an El Cerrito police officer recognized a 30 year old male suspect riding the bicycle that the suspect stole last night from Safeway. The suspect was detained. The victim responded and positively identified the stolen bicycle and signed a citizen’s arrest form. The suspect was also interviewed about a shoplifting theft he had committed last week on the 24th at Safeway where he was positively identified via a video surveillance recording however he refused to speak about either crime. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Auto Burglary – 3400 block of Santa Clara Avenue
At approximately 0819 hours, the victim report that an unknown suspect broke the right side rear wing window to the victim’s 1998 Honda Civic while it was parked in the carport overnight. The thief stole a glass shaped heart valued at $20.

Commercial Burglary – 10900 block of San Pablo Ave
An unknown suspect entered an unlocked storage building and stole an air compressor, powered sewer snake, and a pipe cutting tool. Theft occurred on June 27th between 2200-2300 hours. Total amount of the theft is $975.

Arrest for Shoplifting – Lucky 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 1351 hours an El Cerrito police officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 61 year old male from Oakland for shoplifting $75 worth of steak, seafood, and beer. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Arrest for Shoplifting – Lucky 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately, 1651 hours, an El Cerrito police officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of an 18 year old male, for shoplifting $113 worth of meats, ping pong balls, red SOLO cups, sandwiches, charcoal, and Monster energy drinks. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Arrest for Public Intoxication – 10558 San Pablo Ave
At approximaltey1924 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to an unwanted and aggressive panhandler in front of Mac’s Wok. The subject threw a bottle at the restaurant’s window before walking off. A 48 year old male was located and found to be intoxicated, uncooperative, and unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported directly to the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). While en route to MDF, the male began kicking the plexiglass partition to the patrol vehicle. The male was placed in the WRAP (a full body restraint system), and then transported to MDF. The male urinated on himself and in the back of the patrol car while enroute to MDF.

Arrest for Trespassing – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave
At approximately 2054 hours, officers responded to a call of an unwanted subject at Safeway. The reporting party reported that a 30 year old male, who is a habitual thief, was in the deli area consuming food. The male was previously issued a trespass card and banned from Safeway. The male left before officers arrived, but was later located on the BART Path at Blake St. An El Cerrito police officer accepted the citizen arrest of the male who was subsequently transported to MDF.

Stolen Vehicle – 700 block of Seaview Drive
The victims white 2004 F350 crew cab 4x4 with a long bed and black push bumper was stolen from in front of the victim’s residence between 0330 and 0345 hours. The victim heard his truck start and saw it drive off northbound on Seaview Drive.


June 30th

Theft from Auto - 1500 block of Lexington Ave
An unknown suspect entered an unlocked Nissan Frontier and stole Milwaukee Sawzall, a Milwaukee cordless drill, and South Pole brand jackets. The theft occurred overnight between 1930 and 0700 hours.

Auto Burglary – Parking lot of Peets Coffee 9889 San Pablo Avenue
The victim’s Hyundai Elantra was parked in the parking lot for ten minutes and an unknown suspect broke a front door window and stole a backpack. The theft occurred from 0750-0800 hours.

Petty Theft – Big 5, 11060 San Pablo Avenue
At approximately 2025 hours, the suspect stole an Uzi style Airsoft gun and fled over the wall into the apartment complex at 10944 San Pablo Avenue. The suspect was described as black male adult, 30-40 years old, BLK/BRO, wearing a black and yellow puff jacket and blue jeans. The jacket was later located in the 1300 block of Liberty Street.

July 1st

Residential Burglary – 1000 block of Arlington Blvd
An unknown suspect entered the rear cottage behind the residence by prying the door latch with an unknown tool. The suspect did a Light ransack stealing a rolling suitcase and a Mac Book laptop. The theft occurred between 1130-1340 hours.

July 2nd

Stolen Vehicle – 2300 block of Mira Vista Dr.
The victim’s blue 1991 four door Toyota Camry was stolen overnight sometime between 2000 hours on July 1st to 0800 hours on July 2nd.

Warrant Arrest – 6000 block of El Dorado St.
At approximately 1227 hours an El Cerrito police officer arrested a 50 year old female for failing to comply with a court order stemming from a DUI arrest. The female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – 11900 block of San Pablo Avenue
At approximately 1339 hours an El Cerrito police officer contacted a subject near a suspicious vehicle. The man gave him a false name however the officer was able to convince the 50 year old male to give his real name. The male had three outstanding narcotics warrants from Los Angeles. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to MDF.

Arrest for Public Intoxication - 11299 San Pablo Avenue
At approximately 1435 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to a report of a fight in front of Western Dental. An El Cerrito police officer detained a 54 year old transient male in the parking lot. The male was argumentative and did not comply with orders. The male was intoxicated and had .17% BAC. The male was booked at the El Cerrito police department and transported to MDF.

Arrest for DUI – 400 block of Ashbury Ave.
At approximately 2147 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to a report of a drunk driver. The reporting party’s husband arrived home drunk, and after a verbal argument, the male got into his vehicle and left. Police officers were unable to locate the vehicle, however when they went back to the residence, the male had returned home. Officers arrested a 42 year old male from El Cerrito for DUI. The male was booked at the police department and released on a citation.
