Narrative:
On 07-02-15, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects regarding a series of gas station and liquor store robberies that occurred throughout Ventura County and the Canoga Park area of Los Angeles County.
Beginning on May 16, 2015 Investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office began connecting a series of armed robberies that spanned over five cities in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. Detectives within various specialized units of the Sheriff’s Office and Investigators with Simi Valley Police Department, Ventura Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department began collaborating in an effort to solve this crime spree.
The Crime Analysis Unit of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office generated a lead, which identified Lenny Vanhorenbeeck and Ernesto Magana as possible suspects.
On 07-02-15 at approximately 11:15 AM, Lenny Vanhorenbeeck and Ernesto Magana were arrested as they exited their residence. Search warrants were served at several locations and evidence related to the crimes was recovered. Investigators believe the suspects are responsible for as many as seven (7) armed robberies in Ventura and Los Angeles counties, and the investigation is continuing.
Vanhorenbeeck and Magana were booked into custody at the Ventura County Main Jail for 2nd degree robbery. Vanhorenbeeck’s bail is currently set at 2.5 million dollars and Magana’s is set at 1 million dollars. Both subjects are scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on July 07, 2015.
