*Update* #LASD Deputy-Involved Hit Shooting, 12200 Blk of 216th St, Hawaiian Gardens

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved hit shooting in the 12200 block of 216th St, Hawaiian Gardens.

On Sunday, July 5, 2015, at approximately 9:40 pm, Deputies responded to a residence in the 12200 block of 216th Street, Hawaiian Gardens in response to a prowler call.  The informant in the call stated that a man was knocking on their door trying to get into their house. 

Upon their arrival, deputies began to search the premises at which time one of the deputies came across the suspect in the backyard of the residence and a deputy involved shooting occurred. 

The suspect, a male Hispanic adult, sustained one gunshot wound to the upper body.  He was examined by paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene.   A weapon has not been located. 

Detectives are continuing their investigation.

Whenever an Officer Involved Shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and it results in the wounding of a suspect, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene.  These include separate investigations by the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney in addition to investigations by Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.  The Office of the Inspector General is also present.  Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.

NARRATIVE:               

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are responding to the 12200 block of 216th St, Hawaiian Gardens, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved hit shooting.

No deputies were injured as a result of the shooting.

There is no additional information at this time.
