Neighborhood Watch Helps Nab Mother & Daughter Burglary Suspects #LASD Industry Station @INDLASD

LOCATION: 1500 Block of Flamsted Avenue, Hacienda Heights

SUSPECT(S): 48-year-old Deana Stanley and 30-year-old Maria Tucker

UNIT: Industry Sheriff’s Station

NARRATIVE: 

Industry Station deputies responded to a tip from a concerned citizen of a possible burglary “just occurred” today at the above location.  While conducting the investigation, deputies were assisted by caring neighbors, who provided detailed descriptions of the suspects, their vehicle, and even a license plate number.  The license plate was registered to a home in the 1100 block of North Gordon Street, in Pomona. 

Pomona Police Department dispatched officers to the location where they later found the suspects and the vehicle and detained them.  Deputies from Industry Station responded to the location and positively identified 48-year-old Deana Stanley and 30-year-old Maria Tucker as the suspects. They were subsequently taken into custody. A search warrant was served at the suspects’ residence in Pomona by investigators from Industry Sheriff’s Station, with help from Walnut and San Dimas Station patrol deputies. 

All of the victim’s stolen jewelry and other property from the morning burglary were recovered in the suspects’ vehicle and residence.  A handgun was also seized inside the residence. 

The mother and daughter duo were booked for Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary. Tucker is facing additional charges for Possession of Counterfeit Credit/Access Cards. Bail has been set at $50,000.

This was a wonderful example of how Neighborhood Watch works!  Community Policing is most successful when our alert citizens watch out for each other and notify law enforcement without delay when something looks out of place. 

Hacienda Heights is a community that has enjoyed a very active Neighborhood Watch program for years.  Many residents also connect with each other using social media such as the “NextDoor.com” site, where the Industry Sheriff’s Station interacts with citizens about local crime and quality of life issues. 

Within the past year, there have been several residential burglaries solved in Hacienda Heights.  Suspects were apprehended and prosecuted due to tips, leads and workable information provided by proactive, watchful neighbors.  When neighbors are continuously looking out for one another, it makes it much more difficult for thieves to get away with crimes. 

As proven from the successful resolution of this case, the Sheriff’s Department has a much better chance of capturing the culprits if witnesses do not hesitate to call when something needs to be checked out by the area deputies.  We highly encourage the community to call and report suspicious persons or activities in their neighborhood.
