SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Car/motorcycle injury crash
DATE AND TIME: Approximately 8:30 A.M. on Monday, June 29, 2015
LOCATION: Near the intersection of M-66 and Fenwick Road, Bushnell Township.

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash at 8:30 A.M. on Monday, June 29, 2015 involving an automobile and a motorcycle.

The investigation revealed that a 2006 Ford Explorer was headed east on Fenwick Road and was stopped at the stop sign at M-66 while a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling north on M-66. The east bound Ford did not see the north bound motorcycle and proceeded through the intersection striking the motorcycle.

Reedman Vaught, age 51 from Greensboro, GA, was the motorcycle driver and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Eva Vaught, age 47 also from Greensboro, GA was a passenger on the motorcycle and received minor injuries.

Lonnie Smith, age 39 from Fenwick, was the driver of Ford Explorer and was uninjured during the crash. Smith’s passenger, a fourteen year old Fenwick girl, sustained minor injuries.

All injured parties were transported by ambulance to Sheridan Community Hospital. The occupants of the Ford Explorer were wearing their seatbelts and the motorcycle driver and passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services, Sheridan Fire and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
