Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 06-16-15 at 8:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Midvale Drive on a report of a female subject yelling/screaming and possibly under the influence of drugs. The subject’s mother said her daughter was yelling and screaming for 45 minutes inside her bedroom. The mother said her daughter wouldn’t open the door. With permission, the officers kicked the door to conduct a welfare check on the subject. Officers found the 29-year old subject sitting on the floor crying and screaming. They found 17 unused insulin syringe needles, one used needle, a burnt bottle top with suspected heroin residue inside and suspected liquid brown tar heroin. Officers cited and released the subject for possession of suspected heroin and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, 06-19-15 at 9:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Clarinada Avenue on a report of two gunshots heard and a vehicle driving away from the area. Officers contacted three males in the rear parking garage area who said they didn’t hear anything. Officers found bullet casings nearby. After being interviewed by Detectives, two of the subjects, 20 & 27 year old Daly City residents, were arrested for illegal firearm discharge with negligence, participating in a criminal street gang, having a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and having a concealed firearm while in a criminal street gang. No one was harmed.

On Thursday, 06-18-15 at 11:52 p.m., Officer Korey Sprader contacted a subject sitting in a vehicle on the 700 block of Niantic Avenue. The subject, a 43-year old San Bruno resident, was on probation and had a “search and seizure” clause. He was subsequently arrested for being in possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of sale and for being in possession of narcotics paraphernalia after Officer Sprader found plastic bags, a scale and suspected methamphetamine.

Backpack and School Supply Drive

In partnership with Starbucks, the Town of Colma, the Daly City Partnership and the Daly City Police and Fire Departments, the City of Daly City is collecting school supplies and backpacks for school-age children. Backpacks and school supplies can be donated and dropped off at any Daly City or Colma fire station, police department or Starbucks. Monetary donations are also accepted online at www.dcpartnership.org , or by making a check donation payable to Daly City Partnership.

If you know of a child who may need assistance with school supplies, the child’s family may sign up at the Daly City Community Service Center located at 350-90th Street, Daly City. Enrollment guidelines are proof of income and residency (some South San Francisco and Brisbane families may apply if their children are enrolled in a Daly City school).

Questions about the program can be made directly to Pat Bohm, Executive Director of Daly City Partnership, at [email protected] or by calling the Community Service Center at (650) 991-8007.

Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
