Advisory

Celebrating the Fourth of July with illegal fireworks will not be tolerated in the City of Palmdale or in the County of Los Angeles.

Celebrating the Fourth of July with illegal fireworks will not be tolerated in the City of Palmdale or in the County of Los Angeles. Every year, a significant number of individuals throughout the City and County engage in this extremely dangerous activity by lighting illegal fireworks. Lighting illegal fireworks can result in significant injuries as well as damage to surrounding properties.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department would like inform the public of the penalties for using illegal fireworks.

Penalties for using illegal fireworks include fines of:

- $2,500 for a first offense

-$5,000 for a second offense

- $10,000 for a third offense

The ONLY fireworks which may be legally used within Palmdale city limits are “Safe & Sane” fireworks. The “Safe & Sane” fireworks bear the official label of the State Fire Marshall and will go on sale on Sunday, June 28th at 1200 p.m. The “Safe & Sane” firework booths will be located throughout the City of Palmdale.

Please be advised – Absolutely NO fireworks (not even “Safe & Sane” fireworks) will be permitted in the “no fireworks zones.”  The “no fireworks zone” is generally described as the area within the City of Palmdale which lies along the following lines: beginning at the intersection of Rancho Vista Boulevard and 30th Street West, areas south and west of Rancho Vista Boulevard, north to Avenue N-8; south and west of Avenue N-8 from Rancho Vista Boulevard to 55th Street West; west of 55th Street West; and south from 55th Street West to 60th Street West (Godde Hill Road).  The above areas are considered high fire risk areas.

The City of Palmdale has developed an interactive map that allows residents to enter their address to see if they live in a “no firework zone” and to see if “Safe and Sane” fireworks are permitted in the area they reside. Please visit www.cityofpalmdale.org.

****Just a reminder**** The county areas within the Antelope Valley DO NOT ALLOW “Safe & Sane” fireworks; “Safe & Sane” fireworks are only permitted in the City of Palmdale.
