Advisory update:
It is believed that Escapee John Saatio was seen on Saturday June 20, 2015, hitchhiking southbound on I-41, 1-2 miles south of Highway 172 in Brown County.

At approximately 9:35 this morning, John Wesley Saatio (age 34), an escapee from the Houghton County Jail in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, was spotted near the intersection of Military Ave. and Mason St. When GBPD officers arrived in the area, they confirmed that the person that was seen was indeed Saatio. Officers swarmed into the area and located Saatio nearby, but he took off running. A police K-9 track was unable to locate the suspect. He was last known to be in the area of Gross Ave. and Langlade Ave. around 10:45 this morning. Saatio is believed to have stolen a gray 1995 Subaru Legacy with a damaged taillight and lots of rust with Michigan plate DBF1524 during his escape. This vehicle has not yet been located. Everyone is encouraged to make sure their vehicles are locked and not to store the vehicle keys inside the car. If anyone sees Saatio or the Subaru Legacy, please do not approach him and immediately call 911.
