Thanks to Sheriff's Aviation and Big Bear and Yucaipa deputies, a lost hiker was rescued from Pipe's Canyon.

INCIDENT: Lost Hiker Rescued from Area Affected by Lake Fire
LOCATION: Pipes Canyon, Onyx Peak
SUMMARY:
On Friday, June 19, 2015 at approximately 10:40 a.m., the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to a call of a lost hiker in a forested area near Onyx Summit. It was reported that the 27-year-old male subject, had been hiking for over 24 hours, was blind in one eye and had a broken foot. He did not have any food or water with him and had very low battery life left on his cell phone. The subject stated he could see the Lake Fire and helicopters flying overhead, and that he was engulfed in heavy smoke.
With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation and deputies from the Big Bear and Yucaipa Sheriff’s Stations, they located the subject near Pipes Canyon using the latitude and longitude coordinates from his 9-1-1 call. The subject has been transported back to the Incident Command Post at Big Bear High School, where paramedics were standing by to render medical aid.
