The Hayward PD has been working on retooling the way we use social media to reach out to and communicate with our community. As a result, we're going to change the way we put out the information that traditionally has been listed in the crime blotter. Instead of putting it out a week or several days after it occurs in the blotter, we're going to put it out via our Facebook page and/or Twitter. This will allow us to provide this information more contemporaneous to the incident, to a greater number of people.

We will still use Nixle, but generally only to provide information about community events, crime prevention tips, or safety alerts.

We anticipate it will be one or two months before we transition to this new and improved method of providing more timely information on a wider platform. In the meantime, community members who subscribed to our crime blotter can access some of that information from the Crimemapping page of our Hayward PD website at http://www.hayward-ca.gov/crimemapping/. We also invite you to join us on our Facebook page for more information in the future.
