On 06/13/2015 at approximately 3:50 PM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was on patrol in the area of Hwy 4 and Angels Oaks Road. A black Kawasaki motorcycle with no visible license plate nearly collided with the officer’s patrol vehicle as the motorcycle was traveling west on Hwy 4 passing several vehicles over the solid double yellow lines at an estimated 80 mph.
The officer activated his emergency lights and siren. The driver failed to yield to the officer and continued to drive erratically westbound on Hwy 4 to Obyrnes Ferry Road in Copperopolis.
Deputies from the Calaveras Sheriff’s Department and officers from the California Highway Patrol were requested to assist.
In the interest of public safety the pursuit was terminated near the county line, on Obyrnes Ferry Road at the Poker Flat subdivision entrance.
The driver of the motorcycle was described as a Hispanic male adult, wearing a white helmet, black leather vest, and dark green shorts.
