Riverbank Police Services Sergeant Helps Family Get Stolen Property Back
A hug of thanks was given to a Riverbank Police Services Patrol Sergeant on Friday after a sentimental piece of property was returned to a family. On Thursday, June 11th, 2015 a man was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. He had been in a vehicle belonging to the Palomino family who live in the 6400 block of 7th St in Riverbank, CA.
The family did not realize that a pair of sunglasses had been stolen from the car, and they weren't just any pair of sunglasses. These sunglasses belonged to Kathy Palomino's deceased husband. Her 19 year-old son had kept them in his vehicle with him as a loving reminder of his father.
Today a Riverbank Sergeant was able to locate the sunglasses and return them to Palomino. As she was handed the sunglasses her eyes were filled with tears. She hugged the sergeant and said, "Thank you. We didn't believe we would ever see them again." Sergeant Josh Humble was happy he could return the sunglasses to the family saying, “you just never know how important something is to someone.”
