When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 06-01-15 at 7:48 p.m., Officer Jerel Tualualelei was dispatched to the Seton Hospital Emergency room on a report of a female who was acting out of control who shoved a nurse. When the officer arrived, he said the subject was yelling and being uncooperative with the hospital staff. The officer said the victim didn’t want her IV removed from her hand and then did not want to put her clothes back on. The subject displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and refused to submit to a chemical test of her urine. The suspect was yelling and cursing loudly while the officer was walking the suspect out of the hospital to the patrol car. When the subject was in the patrol car, she spit out of the window and onto another officer. The suspect, a 22-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for battery on a peace officer.

On Friday, 06-05-15 at 3:29 p.m., Officer Victor Cabatic and Officer Karen Douglas were dispatched to the 1800 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard on a report of a male who was seen looking into vehicles in the parking garage. Security guards had asked the subject to leave, but he refused. Officers stopped the subject matching the description given to dispatchers. Officer Cabatic asked the subject if he had anything illegal or sharp on him, and the subject said he didn’t. The officer asked the subject to place his hands behind his back so he could search him and noticed a fresh cut to his thumb and blood on both hands. Officer Cabatic asked the subject about the blood, and the subject said he had gotten off of BART and tripped and fell. The subject became agitated when the officer asked how and where he fell. While searching the subject’s pocket, the officer found a large amount of coins, a 5” long silver window punch, a flashlight, iPod and other miscellaneous items. Officer Cabatic checked the parking lot for possible burglarized vehicles and found two—two of which had blood in them. Some of the victims described their property and confirmed it was in the suspect’s possession. The subject, a 33-year old transient, was arrested for burglary, attempted burglary, criminal threats, possession of burglary tools, contempt of a court order and for an outstanding warrant.

The owner of store said a subject cut the security wire to a display phone and ran out of the store. The owner’s husband chased the suspect, and the suspect threatened the victim with physical harm as the victim was trying to retrieve the phone. Fearing for his safety, the victim returned to the store. Officers were able to detain the suspect who was found to be in possession of burglary tools, drug paraphernalia and was under the influence of a controlled substance (heroin). Several witnesses verified the suspect was the same one who was in the store. Officers arrested the suspect, a 42-year old San Francisco resident, for robbery, burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia and for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Officer Grogan asked the subject if he had anything illegal on him and asked if he could search him. The suspect agreed, and the officer found a window punch in the subject’s front pocket. The suspect said the punch was for “work”. One subject was contacted and said two guys were fighting with him, but everything was okay. The subject was not cooperative and refused to provide any information about the other two subjects. Officers determined the subject had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. When officers searched the subject for weapons, drugs or anything illegal, they found small bags of narcotics (suspected heroin). A witness also told the officers that he saw the subject place a prescription bottle on his front porch when he saw the police arrive. This bottle contained 40 pills. Another officer located the other involved parties who said they were victims of a robbery by the suspect. Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
