91 Cited/Arrested at Brad Paisley Concert & 17 Cited/Arrested at 91X-Fest Concert of the weekend.
Chula Vista, Calif. – On June 6th & 7th, 2015 the Chula Vista Police Department conducted enforcements operations with the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control during the Brad Paisley and 91X-Fest concerts which were held at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre. During the concerts, officers cited/arrested 91 individuals (Brad Paisley) and 17 (91X-Fest) for minor in possession of alcohol or furnishing alcohol to a minor. Most were contacted in the parking lots outside the amphitheatre and ranged in age from 17 to 20-years-old. All of those arrested were released with a misdemeanor citation or released to their parent/guardian with a pending court date. The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service. Minors who are convicted of possessing alcohol face a minimum $250 fine and 24 hours of community service.
This enforcement program is intended to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors. Statistics show they generally have a higher rate of drunken driving crashes than adults. Studies also show the combination of alcohol and youth tends to increase criminal conduct. According to the American Medical Association, underage drinking can increase chances of risky sexual behavior and teen pregnancy, juvenile delinquency, compromise health, and result in unintentional injury and death.
CVPD’s operation was funded by the California Alcoholic Beverage Control through the department’s Grant Assistance Program (GAP).
