Incident Summary
The Petaluma Police Department arrested Michael Stull on May 28, 2015 for committing a series of commercial burglaries. The bulk of these burglaries (in excess of 13 cases) occurred between March and May of 2015, mostly within the office/industrial complexes located on the 1300 block of North McDowell Blvd. and the 700 block of Baywood Drive (adjacent to the Sheraton Hotel). In most of these cases there had been no signs of forced entry, and Stull had entered some of the businesses while employees were still on site (see Petaluma Police Department press release of May 13, 2015).
It is believed Stull had somehow compromised the “Knox Box” system in use by many businesses as a means of gaining entry into them; corrective measures have been implemented to minimize the risk of additional thefts.
Stull’s primary residence was in San Rafael; he divided his time between that residence and an apartment in Santa Rosa where he lived with his wife, Lauren Marguglio. Search warrants for both residences were executed in the aftermath of Stull’s arrest. Stolen property (which included cell phones and lap top computers) was recovered from both residences.
Stull was booked at Sonoma County Jail for burglary, possession of stolen property, and for violating his parole (which stemmed from a series of burglaries committed in Marin County circa 2005).
Marguglio was arrested for possession of stolen property and was also booked at County Jail.
