Vehicle stop leads to narcotics and weapons
On May 29th, 2015 at 2:31 pm a Morgan Hill Police Officer on patrol in the area of Tennant Ave and Monterey Rd made a vehicle code enforcement stop. The driver, 34 year old Luis Abonce from San Martin was acting strange while the officer spoke with him. The officer determined suspect Abonce was under the influence of illegal narcotics and he was arrested. A search of the vehicle recovered a significant amount of drugs, ammunition and a gun. The suspect was a felon and a drug addict which prevented him from lawfully owning a firearm. The firearm was also being transported in the vehicle illegally. The suspect was charged with driving under the influence, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of an illegal knife.
