Police Blotter May 18th - 21st

May 18th

Robbery- 670 El Cerrito Plaza, CVS
At 1250 hours, officers were dispatched to the listed location to assist store security with two suspects they were trying to apprehend for shoplifting. Once officers arrived on scene, store security had a 39 year-old female from Richmond detained, but the male suspect fled before being apprehended. The female stole miscellaneous items from the store and then fought with store security. The female was booked at the ECPD, interviewed and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. (The female had been arrested the prior evening by ECPD officers for shoplifting.)

Arrest for Possession of Methamphetamines, Marijuana and a Parole Violation - San Pablo Ave/Eastshore Blvd
At 2116 hours an El Cerrito police officer contacted a bicyclist, a 32 year old male from San Francisco. The male was on parole for robbery and during a search of the male, the officer located 3.42 grams of methamphetamine and 33 grams of marijuana. A parole hold was placed on the male. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility

Drunk in Public Arrest – 6500 block of Lagunitas Ave
At 0248 hours El Cerrito police officers responded to a report from the homeowner that he could hear voices and noises in his driveway. An El Cerrito police officer located a 31 year old male from El Cerrito, in the driveway talking to himself. The male may have been trying to gain entry into the house as he told officers that he thought it was his house. The male was arrested for public intoxication and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 19th

Burglary- 1500 Block of South 56th St.
Between 05/18 at 1600 hours and 05/19 at 1030 hours, an unknown suspect forced entry into a garage but did not steal anything once inside.

Robbery- 5400 Block of Hillside Ave.
At 1120 hours, the victim arrived home and was unloading her vehicle when an unknown suspect pushed her to the ground and stole her purse. The suspect fled the scene and was not apprehended.

Burglary- 7000 Block of Schmidt Lane
On 05/19, between 0800 and 1600 hours, an unknown suspect entered the residence through an unlocked sliding door and stole the victim’s property.

Burglary- 1400 Block of Navellier St.-
On 05/19, between 0800 and 1530 hours, an unknown suspect entered a residence through an open bathroom window and stole the victim’s property.

Residential Burglary – 7000 block of Schmidt Lane
An unknown suspect broke the rear sliding glass door (possibly with a bb gun) and conducted a moderate ransack inside the home. $400 in cash was stolen and the suspect left via the front door. The burglary occurred sometime between 05/16 – 05/19/15.

Missing Person Located - 7200 block of A Street
At 1826 hours, the wife reported that earlier in the day her 55 year old husband was transported to Kaiser Hospital by AMR from Pomona Ave and Curry Avenue due to a high level of intoxication. The male also suffers from brain cancer. The male was released from Kaiser at approximately 1600 hours however he did not return home. The wife has reported her husband missing numerous times in the past and he has been located in several different places. Officers began calling all of the hospitals, bars, and jails with no success. The male was entered into MUPS but later returned home at 2012 hours.

Warrant Arrest and Driving with a Suspended Driver License - Carlson Blvd / Tehama Ave
At approximately 0053 hours an El Cerrito police officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a 53 year old male from El Cerrito, for a $20K warrant for burglary. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 20th

Possession of a Controlled Substance
At 1600 hours, officers arrested a 37 year-old Richmond man and a 57 year-old San Leandro man for being in possession of methamphetamine during a suspicious vehicle investigation. The two men were booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation.

Residential Burglary – 1700 block of Manor Circle
At 2252 hours, El Cerrito police officers were dispatched to the address after a neighbor saw the front door ajar. The door had been forced open and the interior had been majorly ransacked. A neighbor recalled hearing banging noises at around 2130-2145 hours. Unknown on a total loss.

Residential Burglary 7000 block of Schmidt Lane
An unknown suspect broke the rear sliding glass door (possibly with a bb gun) and conducted a moderate ransack inside the home. $400 in cash was stolen and the suspect left via the front door. T.O.O. 05/16 – 05/19 at 1700 hours.

May 21st

Warrant Arrest- Central Ave. at San Pablo Ave.
At 0920 hours, an officer arrested a 28 year-old female on an outstanding Contra Costa County warrant. The female was released at the scene with a citation.

Arrest for Brandishing a Weapon and Warrants – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave
At 1936 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to a report of a male attempting to stab his grandmother with a knife. When officers arrived, they contacted a 32 year old male from Hayward who was sitting on the couch next to his grandmother holding two small steak knives down to his side. The male was not threatening anyone with the knives, but initially did not want to cooperate with officers to drop the knives. The males’ grandmother was able to take the knives and walk away from him. After de-escalating the situation, the male was placed into handcuffs. The male had been living in the apartment with his grandmother for over a week. When the male’s aunt and cousin arrived to see the grandmother, the male was upset that he did not have money and was holding the knives to his side when they entered the apartment. The male had two no-cite warrants out of Alameda for battery and DUI. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 2206 hours, during a pedestrian contact, an El Cerrito police officer arrested a 44 year old female from Berkeley for three theft related Contra Costa County warrants and two City of Berkeley theft warrants. The female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
