LOCATION: 9600 Block of Milliken Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT: Annie Wang, age 26, resident of Rancho Cucamonga
VICTIM: Confidential 3 year old male
SUMMARY:
On June 1, 2015, at 4:50 p.m. a deputy assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Station responded to the Pomona Valley Medical Center Emergency Room for a suspected child abuse report. The deputy learned Annie Wang brought her three year old son to the hospital because he was vomiting. During an examination by medical staff, the child was discovered to have severe bruising on various parts of his body, including his face, abdomen, buttocks and thighs. A detective from Rancho Cucamonga station also responded and initiated a criminal investigation. Pomona Valley Medical Center transferred the child to the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital(LLUCH) later that evening for tests and additional treatment. LLUCH physicians confirmed the child was suffering from internal and external injuries consistent with physical abuse.
Detectives from the Crimes Against Children Detail responded and worked in conjunction with the detective from Rancho Cucamonga Station to conduct the investigation and interviews. During that investigation detectives learned Wang caused the injuries to her child, possibly at her home during the last two weeks of May. Wang was arrested at the Rancho Cucamonga Station on June 2, 2015, at 10:45 p.m. and later booked at the Central Detention Center for violation of PC 273A(A), child abuse causing great bodily injury. She is held in lieu $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court on June 4, 2015.
The child was taken into protective custody by the Department of Children and Family Services and remains hospitalized.
Wang, a citizen of Taiwan, currently lives in Rancho Cucamonga in the 9600 block of Milliken Avenue. Anyone who might have witnessed the abuse or has information regarding the crime is urged to call Detective Michelle Brand at (909) 387-3615 or Detective Matt Gordon at (909) 477-2800.
