The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with Senior Services to present information on current scams being seen in McHenry County. The presentation will be Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Senior Services 110 W Woodstock St # B, Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Scams that target our community are always changing. This quarterly educational series will provide information on summer scams and information on the current trends observed in the last three months. Tips will be given on what to watch out for, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you become a victim.
After a short presentation, attendees will be able to meet in small groups with Deputies and Detectives from the Sheriff's Office. Attendees are encouraged to bring 2-4 pieces of recently received mail that they think might be a scam. This will be your chance to ask the experts and learn more, helping to prevent you from becoming a victim. All documents will then be properly shredded.
This presentation is designed to provide helpful information for all McHenry County residents. Those who are caregivers to a senior or are a senior themselves are especially encouraged to participate because often seniors are the targeted victims.
