Crime Alert and Community Update Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 05-18-15 at 11:52 p.m., Officer Christian Poteat conducted a pedestrian stop in the area of Hickey Boulevard and St. Francis Boulevard. The officer noticed the subject’s behavior and conducted some tests to determine if he was under the influence. The subject, a 45-year old Daly City resident, later admitted to smoking methamphetamine a couple hours prior. He was cited for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

On Wednesday, 05-20-15 at 2:32 a.m., Officer Phillip Wagnon conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and MacDonald Street. The officer asked the driver for her driver's license, registration and proof of insurance. The subject admitted her license was suspended and said she had just recently bought the vehicle and hadn’t registered it. Dispatchers advised that the driver, a 28-year old Daly City resident, was on probation with a search and seizure clause and had a lengthy criminal history on file. The subject admitted to having a little marijuana inside the car. Officer Korey Sprader arrived to assist and found a pink pepper spray canister in the center console. Officer Wagnon arrested the driver for having a suspended license and placed her on the rear of his patrol vehicle. The officer noticed the subject was rocking the back of the car and appeared as if she was trying to slip out of her handcuffs, and she was also kicking the back seat. The officer advised the subject she was the first person to sit in the back all day, and if she was trying to get rid of any evidence, he would know. When Officer Wagnon arrived at the station and removed the subject from the car, he saw a clear white chalky substance resembling methamphetamine on the rear seat and floorboards. The officer said it appeared that substance was intentionally stepped on. Officer Wagnon then looked at the subject’s hands and saw the same substance there and on the rear of her jeans. The subject admitted that the methamphetamine “fell out of” her shirt. She was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of tear gas, being an addict in possession of tear gas, possession of a controlled substance, destroying/concealing evidence, and driving with a suspended driver's license.

Following a traffic stop at Niantic Avenue and Citrus Avenue on Wednesday, 05-20-15 at 7:05 p.m., Officer Korey Sprader cited a 39-year old San Francisco resident for driving with a suspended license and for being possession of two switchblade knives.

On Thursday, 05-21-15 at 2:45 a.m. four vehicle owners were the victims of a hit and run auto collision with property damage at the intersection of Bellevue Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue. Officers determined that an unoccupied and unreported stolen vehicle left at the scene caused the crash. About a half hour later, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Templeton Avenue on a report of an in-progress vehicle burglary. A suspect was found and transported to the police station. Officers searched his backpack and found items linking him to the stolen vehicle. The suspect, a 23-year old San Francisco resident, was out on bail for an unrelated charge. He was booked for possessing a stolen vehicle, committing a crime while out on bail, and for hit and run.

On Thursday, 05-21-15 at 12:17 a.m., a major injury traffic collision occurred at the intersection of San Jose Avenue and Flournoy Street during a police pursuit of a stolen dump truck by Colma P.D. A subject bailed from the truck but was apprehended by Officer Moala. The case is being prosecuted by Colma P.D. involving the 36-year old suspect from Avenal, CA.

On Friday, 05-22-15 at 7:43 p.m., officers attempted to serve a warrant to a subject at his residence on the 4300 block of Callan Boulevard. The subject fled the residence and evaded officers following a foot pursuit. On Sunday, 05-24-15 at 10:02 p.m., officers again attempted to serve the warrant, and the subject attempted to evade officers again. While following the subject over the fence, Officer Hart was kicked multiple times in the head by the subject. The subject, a 28-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for battery against a police officer, obstructing/resisting a peace officer and for four warrants.

On Friday, 05-22-15 at 10:48 p.m., Officer Shane Hart and Officer Jaime Bermudez were on patrol on Callan Boulevard near Serramonte Boulevard when they saw a suspicious old U-Haul truck. Dispatchers advised the truck was reported Stolen to the Oakland Police Department. As they approached the vehicle, they noticed a subject sliding out of vehicle through the passenger door. The subject told the officers the truck wasn’t his, and that he was sleeping in it. Officers searched the subject and found a zip lock bag containing a white crystalline substance, as well as a backpack containing more of the white crystalline substance. The officers arrested the 55-year old San Francisco resident for vehicle theft with priors, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a vehicle master key, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for five warrants from San Francisco.

On Saturday, 05-23-15 at 4:48 p.m., Officer Rodney Chittenden was dispatched to the Serramonte Shopping Center near Macy’s on a report of a vehicle burglary that just occurred. The witness gave a description of the subject and the vehicle he was driving. Officer Bruce Perdomo was able to stop the vehicle containing three occupants on the highway 280/101 north split. All suspects (a 23-year old female from Sacramento, 24-year old male from Oakland and a 25-year old male also from Oakland) were booked on multiple charges including auto burglary, conspiracy, possession of burglary tools and driving with a suspended driver's license. Thanks to an alert witness, officers were able to catch the thieves!

The victim said shortly after, a mall security guard escorted him to the north side of Crunch Fitness where our officers had detained three subjects. The subject who stole the victim’s pants was not among the three. The mall security officer said one of the three subjects made criminal threats against him. One of the three subjects, an 18-year old San Francisco resident, was cited for possession of a burglary tool. The other subject, an 18-year old San Francisco resident, was released with no charges, and a complaint is filed for the third subject, a 22-year old Richmond resident, for criminal threats. Nextdoor.com

This is a free private social network for you, your neighbors and your community which allows you to talk to your neighbors on line. This, in turn, People use Nextdoor for many reasons: to quickly get the word out about crimes in the area, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find referrals for businesses, looking for lost pets, finding new homes for unwanted items (furniture, bicycles, etc.), and many other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. There is a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your email. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
