Palmdale Sheriff’s Detectives would like to make the public aware of a phone scam occurring in the Palmdale area. The scam starts off with a phone call from an unknown suspect who identifies himself as an employee of the Palmdale Water District. The victim is told their water bill is past due and in order to avoid late fees and/or water shut off they must provide their credit card information.
According to the Palmdale Water District their company does not call residents and ask for payments over the phone.
We ask the public to be extremely careful if you receive a phone call asking for any type of payment over the phone. If you have any hesitation, questions or concerns, hang-up the phone and call the utility company directly.
