INCIDENT: Felony Possession/Manufacture of a Weapon

LOCATION: 1800 Block of Hardt St. Loma Linda, Ca

SUSPECT(S): Charles Stille, 48yoa resident of Loma Linda

VICTIM(S): People of the State of California


SUMMARY:
On May 27, 2015, while on patrol in the City of Loma Linda, deputies from the Central Station contacted the suspect, Charles Stille, while he was riding his bicycle in violation of State Vehicle Code. Stille was found to be on active Felony Probation out of San Bernardino County for the Possession of Stolen Property. While searching Stille’s person and property for weapons and/or contraband, deputies located a piece of steel pipe with a rubber strap and foil wrapped around one end, as if it were meant to be a handle. Further inspection of the pipe found a live 12 gauge shotgun cartridge loaded inside the wrapped end of the pipe. Deputies immediately identified this as a manufactured weapon commonly known as a “Zip-Gun”. The weapon is designed to be a onetime use, throw away type of firearm. In the condition the weapon was discovered, it was determined to be fully functional and ready to fire.

Due to Stille’s probation status and conditions, deputies transported him to his residence and conducted a search of the location. During the search, deputies located two additional functional firearms, a shotgun and rifle. Both weapons were also seized as evidence.

Stille’s was transported and booked at San Bernardino Central Detention Center for violation of PC 33600- Felony Possession/Manufacture of a Weapon and the subsequent Probation Violation.
