Harris Cty Residents Warned to Brace for Significant Rain through Tues Several very wet storm fronts will begin moving into area tonight

Harris County Residents Warned to Brace for Significant Rain through Tuesday
What is the danger?
Several very wet storm fronts will begin moving into Southeast Texas Saturday. Forecasters from the National Weather Service (NWS) are anticipating most areas will receive at least 3 inches of rain through Tuesday with isolated areas receiving up to 10 inches.
Because grounds are very wet and rivers, bayous, and creeks are already at very high levels, the primary threat will be flooding of streets and significant rises of local waterways.
Stronger systems may be capable of spawning tornadoes.
What you should do:
Do not walk or drive in flooded areas. This is the number one cause of flood-related death. A human adult can be swept away by just six inches of moving water. Vehicles, even SUVs, can be swept away by 1-2 feet of water. Rescue is often impossible and risks the lives of first responders. REMEMBER: TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!
It is often impossible to judge the depth of flood waters or what objects may be under the surface – even downed utility lines. Venomous snakes, alligators, and other creatures may also lurk in flood waters.
Residents are strongly urged to closely monitor local media and NWS for forecast updates through Tuesday.
Multiple watches and warnings may be issued. Watches mean that conditions are favorable for hazardous conditions to develop. Warnings mean that hazardous conditions exist and you may need to take immediate protective actions.
